This is one of the most important questions to ask before confirming a private POV shipment because two quotes with the same headline price can have very different exclusions.
Confirm exactly which pickup, export, ocean and destination movements are included.
Check whether processing and normal import/export handling are included or billed separately.
Do not assume optional cargo insurance is included in the freight price.
Duty depends on the vehicle and import treatment and may not be part of a carrier quote.
If customs or another authority selects the shipment for an exam, additional handling can arise.
Delay caused by an exam, missing paperwork or late pickup can create charges outside the base rate.
A private quote may specifically state that it does not include marine insurance, escort fees, storage fees, customs duty, exam fees, or storage/demurrage caused by a customs exam. If your quote contains language like this, treat those items as potential additional costs rather than as part of the quoted transport total.
That depends on the quote. Ask the provider to identify which routine document and customs-handling charges are already built into the price and which are billed separately. Avoid relying on a verbal “all in” description when the written exclusions say otherwise.
The decision tool keeps transport, import/compliance, inland movement and other cost categories separate so an incomplete headline freight number does not appear to be a guaranteed all-in price.
Ship or Sell lets you separate planning costs and provider-confirmed costs before choosing SHIP, SELL or STORE.
